On Pulled salmon burger is a great way to enjoy fish in a completely different way. Especially if you add fresh ingredients and a delicious caper-lemon-yoghurt sauce. Burger fans and fish fans meet here. And everyone can learn something from the other. I have to say, I was skeptical at first whether this was such a good idea. But I was very pleasantly surprised and excited about this special burger. There are more often now!

Pulled pork as a model

Pulled salmon is a further development of the popular “Tennessee BBQ”, in which pork is slowly cooked until it is super soft. Then the meat is shredded and served with boiled beans on bread or as a trendy burger. But if you are into fish, you can look forward to it, because there is no slow cooking. Salmon as a healthy burger alternative

Because salmon is full of healthy omega 3 fatty acids and is therefore definitely a healthy alternative to classic burger meat. And the best part is how easy it is to prepare. You get a very fluffy salmon meat that will surprise you positively on a burger. The pulled salmon burger is therefore healthier, quicker to prepare and tastes incredibly delicious.

This is how easy it is to prepare pulled salmon

All you have to do is cook the salmon until the meat becomes flaky (but still remains juicy). I recommend the LeMax Tischgrill. Because it doesn’t get any faster. And you can use the LeMax to prepare the burgers for 2-4 people at the same time and toast the burger buns on the grill. Nobody has to wait! You don’t need 15 minutes for the fish. Pulled salmon burger

A recipe for pulled salmon burgers with a sensational caper-lemon-yogurt sauce. Other toppings are young lettuce leaves and fennel. A healthy and tasty burger.

For the fennel salad:

  • 1
    Large bulb of fennel,
    cut into very thin strips
  • 1
    Spring onion,
    chopped up
  • 1/2
    Little red onion,
    thinly sliced
  • 2
    THE
    Fresh coriander,
    chopped up
  • Juice of 1 lemon,
    freshly squeezed
  • 1/2
    TL
    Coarse sea salt
  • Freshly ground black pepper,
    to taste

For the caper lemon yogurt sauce:

  • 170
    g
    Greek yogurt
  • Lemon zest and juice of 1 lemon,
    freshly grated and pressed
  • 1
    THE
    Fresh coriander,
    chopped up
  • 1,5
    TL
    Capers,
    chopped up
  • 1/2
    TL
    Dijon-Senf

For the grill:

  • 4
    Salmon fillets with skin
    (125-150 g per fillet), depending on the size of the burger
  • Sea salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • 4
    hamburger buns

To serve:

  • A handful of mesclun, or young mixed lettuce leaves

  1. In a medium-sized bowl, season the ingredients (fennel, onion, coriander, lemon juice) with salt and pepper and mix. Put aside.

  2. Mix the ingredients (yogurt, lemon juice, coriander, capers, Dijon mustard) well in a small bowl. Put aside.

  3. Set the table grill (or a pan) to medium to high level (level 8-9 for the LeMax table grill) and heat it up (5 minutes). Brush the surface lightly with heat-resistant oil and place the fish skin-side down on the grill. Grill the fillets on one side (1.5 minutes), then turn them over and grill on the other side (2 minutes). Finally turn the fish over again and grill with the skin side down until the meat has the desired consistency (for medium another 6-8 minutes depending on the thickness of the fillets).

    tip: As an alternative to brushing the grill surface, you can also brush the meat side of the fillets with plenty of oil before seasoning them.

  4. As soon as the salmon is grilled, the hamburger buns are toasted. You can also do this on the LeMax table grill (30-45 seconds).

  5. Remove the salmon from the grill and place in a bowl. Use a fork to cut the meat and remove the skin.

  6. Spread the salmon meat on the burgers and pour the capers and lemon sauce over them. Add a spoonful of fennel salad and a few small handfuls of lettuce leaves.

  7. You can serve the rest of the fennel salad as a side dish with the burgers.

  8. Enjoy!

  • Instead of 4 salmon fillets, you can also use 2 large fillets (approx. 250-300 g per fillet). The grilling time is then a little longer.
